FUNERALS
Human beings have sensed the mystery of death, and the pain of grief, since time immemorial. The funeral service is the rite and ritual by which we affirm God's love and care in the midst of ur pain:
- Lay a person's bodyy to rest
- Acknowledge the wounds of pain and grief and loss
- Give thanks for the life of a person who has died
- Make our last farewell of the physical life
- Begin to take up life once more
In this rite, and in the wake that follows, Christians celebrate that in the resurection of Christ we know that the pain and destruction of death is overcome and life can be transformed.
The Ascension Church provides an atmosphere of calm and beauty in which people expereince peace. In such a setting people can say farewell and find comfort.
The church offers:
- A personal funeral service
- An organist or recorded music chosen by the family
- The provision for pictures/videos to be shown via the data projector
- Space for people to meet or be quiet on their own
